A Solemn Truth

Moving forward into flames
That dance and twirl
Engulfing my body
All I do is gaze
Like a stranger on a street,
Staring at my demons
And my truths

Until the past is glimpsed,
Barricaded with a wall
Mountains high and valleys wide
Surrounded by a moat
Of sins and sorrows

It is an ominous reality
That when a person is all alone
There is no other
To condemn
Or criticize.
